Family Fighting

 My son is up from Tennessee with his family and so we had a chance to play a game of Chain of Command.

February 42 Soviets vs Germans
Germans had a standard infantry platoon of 3 squads. Each with a junior leader, five rifles and a 4 man light machine gun team. Support units were a Flame Thrower, Panzerjager I, a medium machine gun team and a Pak 38.
The Soviets had a platoon of Tank riders. The platoon had three squads made up of a junior leader with an smg, six men with smgs, and a 3 man LMG. As support they has a platoon of 3 T70's and a 13 man ski squad with rifles.
The Germans were dug in and the Soviets were attacking. The Soviets got their tanks on quickly but they took to long to get into action. The German Pak 38 did not do much early on and finally the Soviets killed the German senior leader and made the Pak 38 useless because of shock.
 
The Soviets started with a Force Morale of 8 and the ski unit showed up in the wrong place and just got driven off the board costing the Soviets 3 points in Force morale losses. The Soviets finally got close enough to unload a squad of tank riders and the Germans killed the junior leader costing another Force morale point and at that point the Soviets threw in the towel and withdrew. The Germans started with a Force morale of eleven and only lost 2 Force morale points.
 
A fun game and will run it again.

Some days are more scary then others and this one is a scary day.  Lieutenant Paul and his band of 30 heavy foot have been tasked with driving 3 trolls out of the swamp lands.  Assisting the Lt. is a small group of 10 light bow and 10 light infantry.  As it turns out those shooters will prove pivotal.  Once the tolls saw our force they began moving to attack us. Going into wet swamps is not what most of the heavy foot signed up for and they were reluctant to move forward but the light infantry love this terrain.  Moving till they came in range the light archers began a devastating fire on the leading troll causing him to halt in confusion to let the rest of his friend come into the fight.   At this point the leader of the trolls sprang into action but he to fell afoul of the archers and became confused about what was going on. Rebels & Patriots

Our club loves Danial Mersey's rules system.  We have played a lot of Lion Rampant and Dragon Rampant and now we are working on Xenos Rampant and Rebels and Patriots.  The plan was to use my "Lego Style" figures and play Sharpe Practice but then I remembered that I had a Danial Mersey system that might work for Napoleonic games even though it was not set for that.   There were several solo play games to get the feeling of the rules and as expected they were good.  Our first club game was exciting and everyone really liked the rules.  Rebels and Patriots might be easier the Lion Rampant with the only thing you have to remember is 6's and 2's are your target numbers for most things other then combat.   With the addition of both Prussian and Russian figures to our collection we can now do some fun stuff.  Currently, I am working up a 1812 game in the snow.  We will see how things progress.
